a morning poem on a thoughtful friday by jake kilroy.
tin cans of pennies left in the rain,
making breakfast in the kitchen,
these songs can't last forever,
though the end ain't so bad,
just running, gunning, grinning.
looking like a marble statue,
fallen in a garden made of sheets,
stunning, stunning, stunning, honey.
well, why not break our bones?
isn't it better than our promises?
my twenties was one long decade of doing both.
and i've got a lifetime to make amends.
